Energy is put equal to mass, multiplied by the square of the velocity of light, showed that very small amount of mass may be converted into a very large amount of energy. The Atomic Bomb is one of these examples.
Conclusion: Mass and Energy is equivalent.
Velocity is speed with direction. Mass and Energy is different forms of the same thing.

E stands for energy, M for mass and C for speed of light. C is just a number, a big one. It says mass and energy are the same.
Energy, 2 forms, Kinetic and Potential. Energy is the capability to do something. Kinetic Energy is something moving fast; Potential Energy is something raised high. We or the scientists does not know what kind of energy mass is in. Mass can be converted to energy and energy too, can convert into mass.
Mass Energy: Proton, Neutrons are made up of three quarks. They are held together by"gluons". They move around every 10-24 seconds. Our body (atoms) is made of protons, neutrons and electrons. Most of the protons/neutrons mass comes from the motion of eternally confined quarks. But quarks do have a small mass, so does the electron without an internal structure. The best theory of nature we have now says they should not have a mass. If electron doesn't have a mass, atoms would disintegrate in nanoseconds.

In the right condition, Mass can turn into Energy and Energy, too, can turn into Mass. Here, the "right condition" meant a near-to-light speed.

Albert Einstien is indeed an interesting person. His famous equation actually meant a lot to us unnoticed. E=mc2 actually also happened beneath the sun, converting certain amounts of its mass into energy. This gives out heat energy, giving life to our blue planet. Not only that, it is the main factor which carry out the water cycle. Photosynthesis takes place because of this equation. Without this, we die. It is the most important mathematical sentence ever created , I dare to say.
Now, let me go further on details. On the destruction and unknown usages of this equation. Firstly this equation is famous for being used in the Atomic Bomb. The Atomic Bomb is actually a splitting of a nucleus of an atom. This gives out a huge amount of energy. In 1938, scientists in Germany have successfully slit an uranium atom, in a process known as nucleur fission. Enrico Fermi , an Italian scientist, had carried out the first ever controlled nuclear chain reaction. Using this fomula E=mc2, the Manhattan Project is being carried out.
These two bombs, perharps the most famous of all, are Little Boy and Fat Man. Both have been made in the Manhattan Project. The bombs were going to be used a few months later when the news broke out. President Franklin D. Roosevelt have passed away. The Vice-President, Harry S. Truman took his place and became the President Of United States. Now, the bombing takes place. A B-29 bomber Enola Gay carried Little Boy on board. They were prepared to bomb Japan. However, they do not know which city they are going to bomb. Well, until they were on air. Then the weather planes in front of Enola Gay told the captain, Colonel Paul Tibbets, that their target is Hiroshima. Boom. Tens of thousands of civillians are dead in the matter of seconds. Next bombing took place in Nagasaki. Again, civillians died in the few seconds bombing took place. This castrosophic event is indirectly caused by Einstien.
But before you think how cruel Einstien is, think again. If not for him, we could never know how sun provide us life. If not for him, we might not even know how a small amount of matter can convert into a huge amount of energy. This equation helps us too. Indirectly.
Now, what are the advantages of E=mc2? Firstly, Nuclear Power Plants. 13-14% of electricity comes from these Power Plants. How come these buildins could produce such amount of electricity? The answer is that it uses Nuclear Fission to provide electricity. Splitting of an atom. This process actually made the atoms "lose mass", and the mass turns to energy.
However, this process is dangerous. On December 1975, Germany Greifswald's Nuclear Power Plant is destroyed by a mistake of an electrician. 2 years later, on Febuary 22, in Czechoslovakia there is a leak in the Nuclear Power Plant. But these could not be compared to the mega explosion on Ukraine. April 26, 1986. Steam Explosion and Meltdown caused 57 deaths, and caused 300,000 people evacuate the Kiev. This explosion, too, dispersed radioactive material all over Europe.
Now you would have realised that not every good thing comes free. That is true. Certainly. Now put yourself in Einstien's shoes. If he does not write a letter to Rossevelt, the Nazis would have destroyed Europe. However, if he sent the letter, then Japan would have 2 main cities destroyed. Thousands would die. If were you, what will you choose?
